Why you should have a holiday home

The lure of buying a property abroad is tempting. But with more and more people choosing to holiday in the UK, the demand for holiday homes in this country is on the increase.

In Cheshire, we are lucky there are plenty of beautiful holiday hot spots near to our borders. North Wales, for instance, with its beautiful sandy coastline, inviting turquoise waters, rolling hills and spectacular landscapes, has long been a popular choice for Cheshire dwellers.

Abersoch is particularly popular. In fact, like Anglesey, it has been coined “Cheshire by the sea” due to the large numbers of people from our county who choose to holiday there. In fact, survival expert Bear Grylls loves it so much that he decided to buy an island just off this particular stretch of coastline.

But the opportunities are endless in this pretty part of the world. From the Llyn Peninsula, which has never-ending beaches and crystal clear waters, to popular seaside resorts like Llandudno and the lush green countryside of Snowdonia, there is something for everyone. There is also Shropshire, Staffordshire and the rugged beauty of the Peak District nearby offering plenty of choice.

When it comes to a choice of property styles, there is a great range to choose from. Park homes long ago ditched their budget conscious, slightly rough around the edges reputation.

It has been replaced with everything from static caravans and timber-clad lodges that have luxurious interiors and state-of-the-art technology offering home-from-home comforts. This new wave of holiday home often comes with a price to match its opulent design but if you are going to use regularly it is well worth it.

If you prefer bricks and mortar then there are choices from beautiful, chocolate box cottages to modern marvels packed with the latest gadgetry. You may choose to go for something smaller then your current property, on account of not spending all of your time there, or you may want a true home-from-home experience opting for something more like the house you spend your everyday life in.

Prices for holiday homes can vary quite a lot but you can expect to pay upwards of at least £50,000.

Some people may decide that only abroad will do. It is important to take proper advice before you make the move as there are many added issues to consider – a possible language barrier being one of them.
When it comes to buying a holiday home the opportunities are endless. Location is key and it is possible price will come soon after that.
