Terry Waite speaks up for East Cheshire Hospice

Born in Bollington, Terry Waite has traveled the world as a humanitarian, hostage negotiator and author. He himself was taken captive after visiting Lebanon to negotiate the release of Western hostages. He remained in captivity for 1,763 days, the first four years of which were spent in total solitary confinement.

Since his release in 1991, Mr. Waite has been in constant demand as a lecturer, writer and broadcaster and has appeared worldwide in front of large audiences whilst also providing words of support to people in social work, education, religious groups and hospices.

Said Mr. Waite: "I am proud to be associated with East Cheshire Hospice and the team of people who have given themselves to that work. I hope you will join me in supporting this appeal."

"When Mr. Waite visited the hospice recently and offered to speak for us at an event we were so delighted. To have the support of a worldwide humanitarian and keynote speaker can only help to raise our profile and subsequently the funds needed to complete our redevelopment," said Major Relationships Manager, Fiona Reed.
