A Moulin Rouge themed ball helped to raise over £90,000 for the expansion project of Francis House Children’s Hospice, Didsbury, writes Laura Normansell.
Hundreds of guests attended the glamorous evening at Mere Golf and Country Club, near Knutsford, which featured French style can-can dancers. Many guests took part in the auction, bidding for exciting prizes provided by local people and businesses.
In 2009 the charity recognised they needed to grow in order to meet the increasing need for their services.
The ball was held to continue fundraising for the building work of the new hospice, which is to adjoin Francis Lodge.
Judy Bailey, Event Organiser for Francis House, said: ‘We were totally amazed at the enormous generosity of everyone there, especially in these difficult times. It is our most successful ball to date.’
The new building, which will cost £3.5 million, is expected to be completed in the next couple of months.
